Won the Popular Prize for the International Modelling Challenge:Digital Twin Builder for Heath Incubator by iSi Health KU Leuven, Belgium
Our team had participated at the International Modelling Challenge :Digital Twin Builder for Heath Incubator by iSi Health KU Leuven, Belgium for the cardiology challenge related to diagnosis of heartfaliure.
The International modeling challenge: Measuring left ventricular filling pressures with ultrasound shear wave elastography and digital twin technology started off in late February, 2025 and lasted till late June, 2025.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) often goes undetected until invasive procedures are required. Our project, ECHO-PULSE-TWIN, offers a non-invasive “digital twin” of a patient’s cardiovascular system by combining standard echocardiography, blood-pressure measurements, and shear-wave elastography within a simplified physiological model. In under a second of processing time, the system tailors itself to each individual—using lightweight calibration algorithms—to provide personalized pressure–volume relationships and hemodynamic insights at the bedside. Designed to work with existing ultrasound machines, ECHO-PULSE-TWIN requires no additional hardware and fits seamlessly into clinical workflows. By translating routine echo scans into real-time functional assessments, it empowers clinicians to make earlier, more informed decisions without resorting to catheterization. Our hybrid physics-and-AI framework ensures transparency and interpretability, while a modular software architecture supports future extensions—such as wearable ultrasound patches for continuous vascular monitoring. With a clear path to integration through partnerships with ultrasound OEMs and a flexible licensing plus cloud-delivery model, ECHO-PULSE-TWIN aims to democratize advanced hemodynamic assessment, reduce patient risk, and accelerate adoption of digital-twin technology in cardiovascular care.
We had to present the solution as a pitch deck to a panel of jury. Click here to check out the pitch deck on YouTube.
